Week six is in the bag and once again it was a week of surprise results with both Green Bay & Tampa losing in all NFC clashes. It was not a whole lot better in the AFC either with Baltimore losing at the Giants and Miami slipping up against Minnesota.
The Thursday game like the week before was not worth sitting up for! The one bright spot was the slightly better performance by Justin Fields. He had 190 yards passing and also led the game in rushing. His counterpart Carson Wentz played much of the night with a broken finger and he is likely to be out for a few weeks. Thus Taylor Heinicke might get another chance. If he plays well it may be the end of the Wentz era in Washington
Still Unbeaten
Philadelphia moved on to 6-0, thanks in no small part to three interceptions by Dallas QB Cooper Rush. They turned these into 10 points. With The Giants & Commanders both winning it was a good weekend for the NFC East.
Game Of The Week
Our predicted game of the week lived up to the hype with Buffalo getting a statement win at Arrowhead. You wouldn’t have thought these were the two best teams in the AFC early though as they both turned the ball over on their opening drives!
Josh Allen had a great night throwing for 329 yards & three TDs as the Bills came from behind to get what could prove a crucial win come season end. This gives them the head-to-head and it is looking probable that the road to the Super Bowl will run through Highmark Stadium.
Denver Do It Again
Beer sales must be up in Denver as once again Broncos fans had an excuse to drown their sorrows after another disappointing loss. This time it was a muffed fair catch that cost them the game as they lost by 3 points or less for the third time this season.
Other Talking Points.
It was a mixed weekend for the veteran QBs with both Tom Brady & Aaron Rodgers failing to rally their teams to victory. Rodgers to be fair has no WR1 and it could be argued No WR2 either after Randall Cobb went down early. The Packer’s failure to address the loss of Davante Adams and Marquis Valdes Scantling either in free agency or with a high draft pick looks a worse decision by the week!
Tom Brady continues to play well enough, however, injuries and loss of form elsewhere on the roster are not helping. They have now lost three of their last four. Fortunately for them, the rest of the NFC South is having issues too so they remain top of the division at 3-3!
While on the topic of veteran QBs it was good to see the much-maligned Matt Ryan have his best overall game of the season. He put up 389 yards and 3 TDs as the Colts avenged their embarrassing opening shutout loss to the Jags. His counterpart Trevor Lawrence had a good if less spectacular night to going 20/22 passing.

Matt Ryan had his best game so far in a Colts uniform.
