NFL 2020 Week Three Results Green Bay March On

Well, that’s week three in the bag and a rather entertaining one it was – even Thursdays less than stellar match up turned out fine from a viewing perspective. So what did we learn apart from the obvious that new York has two awful teams! Well here are a few takeaways from the weekend’s games…

Green Bay Can Beat You On The Ground Or Through The Air!

Last week the Packers relied on the ground & pound as Arron Jones ran all over the Lions for a big win. This week it was The other Arron back in the driving seat as Mr Rodgers showed that he will be going nowhere soon with another neat flawless game and three more TDs.  The Packers are scoring for fun averaging over 40 points a game. Now if only the defense could do their bit. Still on the showings so far you have to put Green Bay in the top 2-3 teams in the NFC.

Seattle Has An Offense Fortunately

The “legion of boom” are now long gone, however, thanks to Russel Wilson and a talented supporting cast, it looks like they are planning to ride their offense deep into the postseason in 2020. Wilson threw 5 TDs and it should have been 6 if D.K Metcalf had not been so complacent in thinking he could amble into the end zone!

Giving up 522 yards of offense is so un-seahawk like, however you can get away with it when the opposing QB turns the ball over three times!

Can Someone Remind Atlanta That There Are Four Quarters!

For the second week running the Falcons suffered a fourth-quarter collapse, this time giving up 20 unanswered points in their loss to the Bears. They have now given up 46 points in the final quarter and in doing so have dropped to 0-3 when they really should be 2-1.

Maybe someone can buy Dan Quinn a copy of clock management 101; it should come in handy in his next head coaching job!  If there is a bright spot for Atlanta fans its that Matt Ryan is putting up Pro Bowl calibre stats having thrown for 961 yds &  7 TDs in those three losses. The offense put up a near-flawless 39 points with no turnovers.

Near flawless we here you say? Well since 1933 when keeping stats became fashionable 441 teams have matched or bettered that feat. Their record 440-0! Well, at least the Falcons have one record book stat beside their name. Oh, hang on we forgot about Super Bowl 51!!

Who Can Stop The Chiefs?

The Weeks big game was the current Super Bowl Favourites Kansas City at Secionf Favourites Baltimore, and a pretty one-sided game it was! KC put up 517 yards of offense to the Ravens paltry 228, and in all honesty, the scoreline flattered Baltimore. The Chiefs are 3-0 and they looked a different team to the one which staggered over the line against the Chargers last week. Mahomes was in scintillating form throwing 4 TDs and if he carries on like this he has to be in the conversation for MVP.

Final Thoughts…

Joe Burrow looks to be getting to grips with the NFL, that’s consecutive 3oo yard plus passing games and no interceptions in either. Mind you the games have not been against the NFL’s elite but its definitely encouraging.

Speaking of the Bengals we have our first tie of the season against the Eagles. A game neither team deserved to win!

Tom Brady similarly may be adjusting to his new offense, putting up his best numbers of the season in a routine win against a half-decent Denver defense. That moved them a game clear in the NFC South and it looks like his run of playoff appearances should continue if he keeps this up.

Justin Herbert looked pretty good after being throw in unexpectedly. It looks like Tyrod Taylor will be on the bench going forward and speaking of changing of the guard at QB it looks like the Trubisky era is over in Chicago.

Our Predictions – Well we went 10-5-1 on our picks
