UK Health Secretary Sajid Javid has confirmed that a new virus has hit the UK as 2o cases of Monkeypox have been confirmed!
A new virus for the world to now worry about as some cases continue to rise, however only 20 cases of Monkeypox have been currently recorded and the Health Secretary has said that most cases of this are mild. Meaning that 80% of cases could be easily recoverable.
The UK is currently stocking up on Smallpox vaccines to see if this can combat Monkeypox as they continue to spread all across the place.
It does not spread easily among people, but it can be spread through: Provided by the BBC.
- touching clothing, bedding, or towels used by someone with the monkeypox rash
- touching monkeypox skin blisters or scabs
- the coughs or sneezes of a person with the monkeypox rash.
This may not be as bad as other viruses such as Covid-19, however, it’s something to look out for!
If you are infected with Monkeypox, then the infection could take 5 to 21 days to get any symptoms, similar to Covid-19! Symptoms can include.
- Fever
- headache
- muscle aches
- backache
- swollen lymph
- nodes
- chills
- exhaustion
