Everyone in the UK has been offered all three vaccines, the first one ever to the 3rd booster vaccine to have immunity towards the virus, however with the virus coming back to infect more and more people across the world, there has been more chances to get more immunity and this will be offered to those with underlying health issues and over 50s

The younger generation are currently at high risk from getting Covid-19, as well as the health and social care staff. This does not mean they will not be getting the boosters they need to stay healthy.

Drug companies have been developing updates to the vaccine that will tackle any new variants that come from Covid-19. There is a level of uncertainty that the vaccine will be used.

The plan before this one was to jab those who are over the age of 50-65 and with any health issues to be vaccinated, however those who are healthy will wait, this has now changed.

Due to the rise in Covid-19 cases and with the virus continuing to spread across the UK, the vaccine will be given to anyone over the age of 50.

It says the booster should be offered to:

  • health and social care staff
  • everyone aged 50 and over
  • carers who are over the age of 16
  • people over five whose health puts them at greater risk, this includes pregnant women
  • people over five who share a house with somebody with a weakened immune system
