Stance!

Stance is the most important part of boxing, if the stance isn’t right then you could end up being hit more times than you can say boxing! Always make sure your balance is right as well, the balance could ensure you stay up while being hit. If the balance isn’t there you could fall from him coming towards you. If the footwork is good then the punches will be harder than you originally think, also allows you to move around quicker if the footwork is good. Orthodox and southpaw are the main stances you will need to know. The different between the two is that one is where you jab with your left and hook with your right as the other is the other way round! Orthodox is left jab right hook, Southpaw is right jab left hook! The stance is very important when starting to box! Don’t forget about this! Anthony Joshua is orthodox and Joe Calzaghe is southpaw! Both are and still undefeated!

Workout!

Working out is second most important thing, to gain your strength you need to workout most days, if not everyday, with some rest days in-between otherwise you’ll get too tried to easily. Workouts would take 1 hour and 30 mins to 3 hours long to ensure you gain as much as you can. If you don’t have any rest days your body will seem very weak and won’t preform as well as it could be. Cardio is needed! Cardio is needed when you get into later rounds, rounds 1 – 5 could be the fastest rounds as the rest could end up feeling like you’ve done 100 rounds. Cardio could help you win a fight and could help in the later rounds as your opponent may not even think about cardio! Pad works will help you work on footwork and help with the power and technique of your punches! Pads also give you need ideas on what to try against your opponent, this could also help you with sparring when you learn new techniques! Sparring helps you understand how hard punches can be before getting in the ring with someone else! Every boxer does sparring but its a lot different to what you would be doing. Basic sparring can go along way! Jump rope will also be used to help with arms, movement and cardio!

Stance Technique!

The stance can help you understand how boxers move about, Tyson Fury changes his stance every so often to confuse his opponents and make them come to him so he can take advantage, as Anthony Joshua stays in the same stance and its harder to get a good hit to his head! Always keep your hands up so you can block any shot that comes your way, get ready to block or dodge out the way incase of any jab or hooks! If the stance is off, this could lead to the opponent potentially getting more hits on you! Make sure the Stance is always right, this could lead to a successful fighter or a terrible fighter!
