Who Will be Named the Best Player in Europe?

Each year, UEFA name who they think was the best player in Europe, each year we see Ronaldo and Messi have a chance of winning this award, each year they won it, apart from last season and potentially this season! Last season, the winner of this award was Luka Modric, now the winner could be Liverpool’s defender Virgil Van Dijk! The three players that have been named to win this award are; Virgil Van Dijk of Liverpool, Cristiano Ronaldo of Juventus and Lionel Messi of Barcelona.

Virgil Van Dijk has had one of the best seasons in world football today, he nearly won the Premier League with Liverpool, only losing 1 match throughout the Premier League season, winning one of the best comebacks in Champions League history and not one defender could get past him throughout the season, until Pepe of Arsenal ruined it! Winning the Champions League doesn’t come easy for some players but for Van Dijk it seemed like it was going to happen after being in the Champions League twice in a row! So far, Liverpool are unbeaten in 3 games and they could be the winners of the Premier League already!

There was no doubt that Ronaldo was going to be near the top of this list, he is one of the best forwards in the world and even at the age of 34, he is still providing a lot of goals and showing fans around the world that he still has what it takes to play world class football at the age he is at! He is clearly still at his best and still can be the best player in the world. Unfortunately, he hasn’t had much luck in the Champions League, but he is still considered as one of two great forwards.

Messi can be named the face of football, the GOAT and many more, however the reason he’s on this list is because he has had a great season with Barcelona and surprising everyone still, he can be named the best player in the world as a forward and has be outstanding this season with his club, unfortunately lost in the Champions League semi-final to Liverpool but still put on a show nevertheless.
