Steven Gerrard will go down as an England and a Liverpool legend, he stayed at his boyhood club for 17 seasons and won nine trophies with the club and captained his country as well, however according to Michael Owen, Liverpool wanted to get rid of Steven Gerrard two years before he left the club to join Los Angeles Galaxy in 2015. This is a shock to hear if the Michael Owen is true since, Gerrard would have never left Liverpool for any other Premier League club.

Steven Gerrard and Michael Owen both graduated from the club’s academy and both managed to sign a professional deal with the club, however Owen signed 11 months before Gerrard. Owen left the club in 2004 for Real Madrid since he was the wonder kid at the time and managed to flop nearly once he left to go to Madrid, but was one of the best strikers at Liverpool and for England, however Gerrard had the chance to leave Liverpool and join Chelsea but he resisted that move and remained at Anfield that summer.

After the departure of Owen, Gerrard remained at the club for almost a decade and left to go to LA Galaxy, however Owen believes that the former Liverpool captain was forced his departure for his new club, “In Steven’s case, I severely doubt whether he really wanted to go and play in the States in 2015,” Owen wrote. Is this true?
