Tom Waller’s The Cave received its world premiere on 5 October 2020 at the Busan International Film Festival in South Korea. And, its North American premiere at the Vancouver International Film Festival on the 9th October.  Tonight (11th October) its London’s turn as the film gets its European premiere at the 63rd BFI London Film Festival.

The Cave tells the true-life story of the dramatic rescue of 12 boys, members of the Wild Boar football team, and their coach from the flooded Tham Luang cave in northern Thailand, during the 2018 monsoon season.

Directed by Bangkok-born, Thai-Irish filmmaker Tom Waller, the film is the first in what is expected to be a series of movies, that tells the remarkable rescue story that gripped the world for the 18 days, between 23rd  June – 10th July, last year.

As well as Thai engineer Nopadol Niyomka, four of the volunteer cave divers played themselves in the film, lending an authentic feel to the movie. All the boys and their coach are played by actors.

After the BFI London Film Festival, the film will receive a general release in Thailand on November 28.
