Soul was released on Christmas day 2020 straight to the Disney Plus streaming service, but for a film that came out during this season it has nothing to do with christmas at all which if i'm honest makes a nice change from spending that whole holiday watching the same feel good stories told many different ways, this film however was unlike anything Pixar had done before.

Within the first ten minutes of watching this film you meet the main character and immediately see what his passion is in life, his name...Joe Gardner. Joe is a normal music teacher who loves what he is doing but Joe has a dream of being in a jazz band and playing jazz music for the rest of his days, Joe wants to make it BIG.
Just as Joe is within reach of making this dream come true the unexpected happens...... he dies. Now if you watch the trailer or look at the name of the film you could probably guess something like that happens or there would be no story, but what you could never guess is the adventure that Joe and another main character 22 go on to get Joe back to earth or in 22's case - just - get Joe back to get to earth.

22 I promise is a character, they are infact a soul who is not ready to be born on earth as they have not yet found what they're passionate about or what they will be good at when they come to earth, this is important because the Jerrys believe that in order to be able to be a soul on earth you need to have a purpose and one thing you are definitely good at.
22 goes on to prove that there are other things to be passionate about in life.

This movie is everything Disney Pixar are known for; an emotional rollercoaster with tears of both sadness and joy in equal measure. Thought provoking and life affirming but appealling to all ages.
