Who was Elizabeth I

When Elizabeth was born it came as a disappointment to Henry her father as he really wanted a son to carry on the Tudor line. When Elizabeth was 2 year old just before her 3rd birthday her mother was executed.As Elizabeth grew up she was well looked after, as was educated in various subjects and languages. This was because she was being prepared for a life as a member of the royal court. As a kings daughter she played a very valuable role. As a princess she was mostly likely to be married off to an important foreign figure, However when she was 8 years old she declared that she would never marry as she watched the way her father was and was disgusted by how she thought married worked, and also for the fact her mother was executed.

After her fathers death she went to live with her father’s 6th wife and new husband she was very grateful for the way they looked after her after her fathers death. During her sisters Mary reign, her sister saw Elizabeth as a threat so imprisoned her in the tower of London. Elizabeth was crowned Queen Elizabeth I of England at the age of 25. When Elizabeth became Queen she already had lots of enemies, furthermore she was also surrounded by many powerful men. Many of which served in the court of her father.
