The Mastiff Working Dog is one of the most ancient types of dog breeds, as their ancestors, the Molossus, were known for 5,000 years, and back then they were ferocious war dogs. Mastiffs are sometimes called the old English Mastiffs. This breed of dog is known for being very intelligent and is great socially rather than some dogs.

This massive type of breed was mainly used for guard and fighting dogs in England for more than 2000 years, an amazing type of breed to say the least. This dog breed was found in European and Asian records, and this was dating back to 3000BC. They mainly functioned as war and guardians, as this is what they did for quite some time.

The Roman invaders of England sent the English Mastiff to compete in the arenas of ancient Rome. This dog was pitted against Bears, Lions, Bulls, and other dogs, as well as human gladiators. The breed was also fought in the later bullbaiting and bearbaiting rings of England.

This particular breed of dog is known for being very intelligent and has great social skills. They are known for being quick learners and they are always wanting to please their owners. There is one issue, however, the repetition of one typical class will possibly bore them, meaning they may not listen as much if it is repetitive. Overall they are moderately hard to train.

 Do they Need lots of Exercise?

The Mastiff – Working dog only needs up to 30 minutes a day of walking, however it is also recommended two walks a day to allow them to have time outside as well.
