What’s Next for Dillian Whyte?

Dillian Whyte has started to show what he can really do in the ring, new level of professionalism and maturity when he went up against Oscar Rivas, however was it worth waiting just over a year for a title shot that he deserved a while back? Probably not no. He should have been given a title shot against Anthony Joshua after he beat Chisora in 2018, when he knocked out Chisora in the 11th round. Dispute waiting a long time, it’s now finally happened, and he couldn’t be any happier right now, but when will he get his chance at fighting the WBC champion of the world Deontay Wilder?

As of right now, it’s not looking like it’s going to be at some point this year, due to him already signing a fight with Luis Ortiz in September and after that facing Tyson Fury once again since there first bout was a draw and the WBC board ordered them to fight again. Right now, Whyte will have to wait for his chance to fight Wilder again, since he won’t be fighting Wilder this year at all, unless he fights in December, however that is very unlikely due to Fury wanting to fight Wilder in February and Wilder will want to have some time to train for that fight more than the Whyte fight.

Whyte can only do one thing and one thing only, fight someone else while waiting for the chance to fight Wilder. If Anthony Joshua loses to Andy Ruiz again, he could go for the fight against him… if this fight happens sooner than December that is. Other than this fight as a main event, he will have to find someone else to fight or he will be waiting till September next year to fight Deontay Wilder, the question is who will he be fighting?

Rumours have been spreading that Whyte could have lost his chance of fighting Wilder anyway… Rumours and sources say that Whyte had some illegal substances found in his body before fighting Oscar Rivas, however fought and won anyway. So, if these are true, he could have lost his title shot already and could be waiting a lot longer than a few years to get another title shot! This could be false however; it’s been rumoured, and Eddie Hearn even commented on the situation.
