The Octagon returns to Canada on Saturday with FC 240 taking place at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, and what a night it should be with Max Holloway putting his championship belt on the line. His opponent is former champion Frankie Edgar and let’s hope its third-time lucky as the match up has been scheduled twice before, first at Uand then again at UFC 222, but in both instances, the fights were scrapped due to injuries. There also appears to be a fight lined up for the victor, with a rumoured defence already planned for the end of the year against Aleksander Volkanovski. Although Holloway is coming off a defeat in a different weight class, he is still undoubtedly one of this division’s all-time greats, but former champ Edgar still feels he has lots to prove and is not just here to make up the numbers. Should be a great fight.
Co-Main Event Cris Cyborg vs. Felicia Spencer Women’s Featherweight
This is another intriguing match up with the former champion Cris Cyborg trying to go one better than her loss in UFC 232 to Amanda Nunes facing off against relative newcomer Felicia Spencer who signed with the UFC in March 2019. This could end up a grappling match with both being skilled BJJ fighters. However, as you can see below Cyborg can fight on her feet too!
