World War Hulk Review

About the Comic

The series consists of five main issues titled World War Hulk, with Greg Pak as the writer and John Romita Jr. as the artist and three other limited series: World War Hulk: Front Line, World War Hulk: Gamma Corps, and World War Hulk: X-Men.

Plot

Set after the events of The Illuminati (Black Bolt, Tony Stark, Doctor Strange, and Reed Richards) banishing Hulk from the Earth in Planet Hulk. The Spacecraft they sent Hulk away in explodes, killing Hulk’s pregnant wife.

Hulk is stranded on planet Sakaar detailed in the comic Planet Hulk (worth reading first). After absorbing radiation on Sakaar and becoming stronger than ever, Hulk returns to Earth to seek vengeance against the Illuminati, including Professor X and Namor.

Review

This series is all-out action. Greg Pak has created a brilliant Hulk Storyline using as many Marvel characters as possible, and it works!

I wanted to read up on comics featuring The Illuminati before the release of Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of madness. Unfortunately, it just feels like the MCU has missed one hell of an opportunity here unless we see it unveiled in a future multiverse storyline.

The overall storyline is fast-paced and to the point and flows consistently. In addition, the artwork is phenomenal, with the fight scenes perfectly done.

I would happily read this again and again!
