In general, macaws are robust, long-lived birds. Their biggest health problem is not physical, but rather emotional. Macaws are prone to boredom and loneliness since they are gregarious, intellectual beings. A macaw that is depressed will harm itself by plucking its feathers.
Due to their social demeanor, amazon birds are one of the more well-known moderate parrot species. They are frequently characterized as loud, energetic, and extroverted; some even enjoy singing. Male Amazons are known for their “macho” behavior, which includes pinning their eyes, flaring their tail feathers, and “strutting” over the floor or a table.
All Eclectus subspecies share similar behaviors and personalities but with slight differences, for example Solomon Island and New Guinea Eclectus are more docile than the large domineering Australian Eclectus, and when hand reared are considered to make the best pets. Although the personality of hens is different from cock Eclectus, it is questionable whether hens or cocks make better pets.
