Those who’s job it is to compile weather data to make a forecast has said today will be the last day of Ibiza-like temperatures in the UK.

The weather during the past week has been extremely warm and humid, causing brits to flock to beaches and beauty spots to enjoy it while it lasts. But, thunder and rain is set to bring all this lovely weather to an end soon, as today is being hailed as the last day with hot weather around 30°c.

When speaking about why we’ve had the hot spell we have, Dan Suri explained: “We quite often see warm, southerly air from the continent bringing these high temperatures to the UK in summer, however this week, the air across the UK has arrived from the Atlantic.

“This Atlantic air will descend and warm up as it moves across the UK and this in combination with clear skies and strong late-June sunshine, we’re seeing temperatures rise.”

But this is set to change. Temperatures are due to drop by around 10°c, and will be accompanied by spells of rain and thunder. The met office has issued 2 thunderstorm warnings that cover pretty much all of the UK, warning brits of heavy rain, thunder and lightning, and even hail.

Mr Burkill, who works for the Met Office, said: “Friday will be another hot day, but less hot than yesterday in many places.”

“This marks the transition to something more changeable as we go into the weekend.

“We are going to see spells of rain, stronger winds and temperatures are going to be less hot.”

So, look out for spots of rain and thunder where you are in the country, and enjoy the last day of sunshine for a while – unless you’re also sick of having to sleep in stupidly hot conditions!
