In what is being hailed as the most accurate study on the subject, a report suggests that kids are just as likely to get Coronavirus as adults.

A study of over 10,000 people showed that there were no significant numbers extra cases in older people, compared to their younger counterparts.

This is bound to only intensify the debate between parents, schools and government, in which suggests that school students will return to the classroom soon.

The survey was taken out by the office for national statistics and found that number of those testing positive for coronavirus, it added up to between 0.2 and 0.4 per cent across all ages.

Simon Clarke, whos an associate professor in cellular microbiology of the University of Reading, said: “We have a horrible choice ahead of us with reopening schools.

“Back when we first started learning about this virus, we knew from China that children did not seem to be so affected. That leads to two questions. The first is whether they get the virus. And now we know that yes, they do. The second is whether they transmit it. We don’t know the answer to that.”

But last month, another study carried out showed that children don’t play a significant role in spreading the virus, like we initially thought. They were once branded as “super spreaders” despite this not being entirely true.

In its tracing of virus spread, though, the WHO hasn’t found any child under 10 years old that has actually passed it on to someone else, which is interesting. Whether they’ve just found any because they can’t spread it or just not found any by chance we don’t know.

There is a lot still to be discovered about this virus and how different hosts react to it. Recently, we discovered a 100% accurate antibody test. So we are getting a sort of grip on the virus, however it is quite slow.
