Due to the coronavirus outbreak, all the schools in the UK were forced to shut and wait for the virus to either go and or a cure to be made, however with the most recent figures of the virus shows that lockdown worked and the infection rate is slowly going down each day. More shops and businesses are opening and everything is seeming to go back to normal very soon. Unfortunately for pupils in Primary School… the plans to reopen all schools for every pupil could be dropped by the government very soon.

The plan was to open all schools with every year from 1 to 6 and continue with the year until the summer holidays, however, this has now changed since the government believes that schools should be given the choice to bring all their students back if they are wanting to. The aim was for pupils to have 4 weeks in school before the summer break but now they will be given “flexibility” if they want to admit more pupils in. This has come from downing street when the Health Secretary Matt Hancock said that Secondary Schools will most likely reopen “at the earliest” Septemeber, and or not fully reopen till then!

With all this going on, some parents believe that this was too early and won’t be sending anyone to school until the rules in schools are either better and or the virus is gone or nearly gone. With this happening, Prime Minister Boris Johnson will be having a meeting later this week, discussing whether they should ease lockdown more and what they are going to ease, or they are going to look at the figures and continue with what they are currently doing. The current restrictions allow people to meet up outside, up to 6 people at a time, but they are having to stay 2 meters apart and they are not allowed in your household!
