Amy Louise Gerard, 28, originally from Cleethorpes, was last seen outside Irish bar, Molly Malone’s in Puerto de la Cruz in the early hours on November 30th. She was working on the island’s Loro Parque marine zoo.

She was out with her work friends the night she went missing, her family say. Amy left the Irish bar around 12:20AM as she left the bar, she became separated with her boyfriend. It is extremely out of character for Amy to not contact family or friends. CCTV footage has been released showing her last known movements, she is seen singing and dancing with her German boyfriend before mysteriously disappearing.

Police confirmed a body had been found on December 4th within metres of her last moments, the body was said to show no signs of violence and an autopsy was proven inconclusive.

The charity for missing people around, The Lucie Blackman Trust said it was “saddened to announce” DNA testing results had confirmed the body was Ms Gerard’s.

In a statement, released by the charity, her family said: “The DNA results confirm our worst nightmare and we are all heartbroken that Amy is no longer with us.

“The police investigation is ongoing and there is no further information to share at this time.”

The police are yet to confirm officially.
