Amy Louise Gerard went missing outside an Irish bar in Puerto de la Cruz in the early hours of Friday. Ms Gerard works at the Spanish island’s Loro Parque marine theme park. Her mother and sister had flown out to help with the search.
Police have confirmed there is a body found but has not been identified. The body was recovered from the water and taken to a nearby harbour at about 11:30 GMT; it was found within meters of Amy’s last known whereabouts.
The search has been called off whilst the body is identified.
A police spokesman said: “I can confirm a woman’s body has been found in the sea.
“It is too early to say at this stage whether it is that of the missing Brit or not. The woman’s body has now been brought to shore.”
