Solihull Moors FC

Solihull Moors FC – or The Moors as they are nicknamed are a fairly recent addition to the world of football.  Formed for the 2007-8 via the merger of Moors Green & Solihull Borough, it is fair to say that they have probably exceeded expectations, being fairly well established in the Conference Premiership. They have also enjoyed success in the FA Cup having reached the 2nd Round proper five seasons running (to 2020-21) including 4 trips to the second round!

This cup success has included some thrilling games including an excellent 3-2 win away at Scunthorpe and an equally exciting extra-time loss in a replay at Blackpool in 2018.

They have not been able to translate this form into the FA Trophy though, with their only season of note being that Quarter-Final appearance in 2018-19.

In 2019-20 they made their debut in the Scottish Challenge Cup, reaching round 4, losing 4-3 on penalties to Glasgow Rangers U21’s.

Solihull Moors FC In The League

They began their footballing journey in the National League North (then the Conference North) in 2007-8 and it would be fair to say that they didn’t set the world on fire in those early years. They flirted with relegation in their first three seasons and only managed two top 10 finishes in 8 years.

Things changed dramatically in 2015-6 though when they romped to the title, winning it by 9 points while rattling in 84 goals! They also lifted the Birmingham Senior cup that year beating the holders, Birmingham City 2-1.

They found the step up in class a little difficult at first and for the next two seasons they were firmly rooted in the bottom half of the Conference Premiership, although never really relegation-threatened.

In 2018-19, in a similar fashion to their promotion year, they took many by surprise finishing second, only 3 points off of automatic promotion. Sadly their dreams ended with a 1-0 playoff semi-final loss to AFC Fylde.  They were in the thick of the promotion chase again in 2019-20 before Covid 19 struck.

They play their home games at Damson Park, which is a nice little stadium with decent facilities. However, if you want a seat we would suggest booking a ticket in advance.
