The Ballon D’or is one of the best awards in football. If a player wins this award, he has been voted as one of the best footballers of the year, however the Ballon D’or has been won by Ronaldo and Messi the past 10 years due to them being at there very best! This has all changed this year though! Messi could have won this award but so could Ronaldo but none of them did! The winner of the 2018 Ballon D’or is… Luka Modric! Luka Modric has been named the best player in the world at this current moment in time. He is one of the best midfielders in the world, starting out his days at Spurs and working his way up to the top spot at Real Madrid! Since Ronaldo won this award last time, the trophy remains at Real Madrid. In my opinion, Mbappe deserves it. Modric has done well, getting himself a champions League trophy, La Liga Trophy and getting Croatia to the Finals of the World Cup… however Mbappe has won the world cup, won the Ligue 1 and is one of the most expensive 18-year-old players! He deserves that trophy in my opinion. Who knows, maybe this is the end of an era for Ronaldo and Messi? This could be the end. They might never win this again!
