22nd June - On this Day

What does the 22nd June have to offer, well on this day...

Today is National Windrush day in the UK. Established in 2019, the day was created to celebrate Britons of Caribbean origin. The day falls on the anniversary of the Empire Windrush ship docking on June 22, 1948, that brought Caribbean peoples to fill postwar jobs in Britain. The "Windrush Generation" encompassed some 500,000 people arriving between 1948 and 1971.

On this day in 1940, France and Germany signed a second armistice agreement at the Compiègne Forest—the same location as the 1918 armistice of WWI. Adolf Hitler made a point of signing the 1940 compact in the same railway carriage as the 1918 document. This marked the official date on which France surrendered to the German forces.

Today is Stupid Guy Thing day, created by Wellcat Holidays, and is a day to share the daft things men do. The format is to create a list of all the stupid things the men in your life do and pass it on.
