13th July - On this Day
What does the 13th July have to offer, well on this day...
In 1985, concerts at Philadelphia, PA, and London, England were seen by 162,000 attendees and an estimated 1.5 billion television viewers. The concerts were organized to raise funds for African famine relief; the musicians performed without a fee, and nearly $100 million was pledged toward aid to the hungry. This event of a lifetime was named Live Aid.
In 1930, the first-ever Football World Cup competition was held at Montevideo, Uruguay, with 14 countries participating.
