
Imperial Weights and Measures
The British Imperial System of weights and measures was officially introduced to Great Britain by ‘The Weights and Measures Act’ of 1824. Within two years, the system had been adopted across almost the whole of the former British Empire. Subject to alteration and amendment, it remained in place until the adoption of the metric system began in 1965.
