Shoplifter Threatened Currock Co-op staff member

A man, who was originally charged with robbery after an incident outside Blackwell Road’s Co-op store in Currock on Easter Sunday has admitted both affray and the illegal possession of a screwdriver in a public place at Carlisle Crown Court today.

The incident happened on the evening of Easter Sunday. The man had taken several items without paying and after leaving the store he used a screwdriver in a threatening manner in the direction of a member of staff.

The same man also admitted stealing a Lexmoto 125cc scooter valued at £1,700 several hours earlier on Easter Sunday.

The scooter had been taken from the St Nicholas retail park, off London Road.

During an earlier court hearing, he also plead guilty to two other shoplifting offences having stolen smart televisions on the 15th and 16th of April.

He will remain remanded in custody until appearing before a judge for sentencing
