Whether you collect Canadian stamps in general or bird thematics this $1 stamp from 1998 is well worth tracking down.  The stamp depicts the Common Loon or Great Northern Diver (Gavia immer).  The Stamp was issued in sheets of 16, and although they seldom turn up as such you can quite easily get a corner block of four.

For those who like to know the technical details, they printed on unwatermarked paper are Perforation: 13¼ x 13.

Modern Canada Stamps Are Relatively Inexpensive

Despite it being such an attractive stamp the $1 Loon is like most modern Canadian stamps relatively cheap although blocks do tend to command a premium. Used are much cheaper than mint and one with a heavyish cancel can often be obtained for a few pennies. This is great for young collectors who can acquire an interesting stamp with a bit of genuine topical interest for a pocket money price.
