Social Distancing To Stay?

Coronavirus has changed almost every aspect of life since it’s arrival in the UK, and apparently this isn’t going to change any time soon.

“We’re going to have to do a lot of things for quite a long period of time,” Chief Medical Officer Chris Whitty said.

“This disease is not going to be eradicated, it is not going to disappear.”

Reports suggest that we won’t be able to make any sort of sudden switch back to a “normal life” and that we might have to find a new definition of “normal.” And even then, social distancing measures are critical in stopping the spread until we develop a vaccine or find some form of effective treatment.

And now, in the latest developments, the government has been planning to do much more testing, and even accurately track the spread.

“We are ramping up our testing capacity and our capacity for contact tracing in a matter of weeks, and we will have it ready to make sure that we can use that as and when the incidents of transmission come down,” Hancock said. “Test, track and trace is a critical part of keeping the spread of this virus low.”

The government says they have waiting until now to start, because the transmission rate has got to a certain low point, it’s tied to this to ensure it’s effectiveness. Another review is due in 2 weeks time.
