It has been said that pubs may not re open until around Christmas time, which is a statement many pubs owners have commented on.

Pub owners say they have already lost “millions” due to the cancellation of the Euros, and will continue to lose to the point of no return if pubs don’t re-open before next year.

Michael Gove said pubs would be among the final businesses to be given the green light to re-open once the outbreak is under control.

When asked if these businesses would be back up and running before the start of winter, grove said: “The other inference that I draw from your question, which is that areas of hospitality will be among the last to exit the lockdown — yes, that is true.”

One pub owner pointed out that January and February are pretty slow months when it comes to pub owning, and without the extra cash flow at Christmas, some owners are scratching their heads wondering how they’re going to get by.

With the Euros being moved to next year too – this could be the “nail in the coffin” for some businesses.
