Starting from today, people are allowed to take unlimited exercise, and see other people outside of the household as long as they stick to social distancing rules.

Police have no powers to enforce social distancing.

But, a new report suggests that police have no longer got the necessary powers to enforce social distancing measures upon the public.

New guidelines from Police suggest the new “government guidance is not enforceable, for example two-metre distancing, avoiding public transport or the wearing of face coverings in enclosed spaces”.

The advice was supposedly released today, and is active as of today, too.

But, even though the police can’t tell you what you can and can’t do anymore, they can still fine you and report you. As lockdown measure decrease, fines will increase from £60 to £100 in England from May 13 onwards, doubling in price for each new offence that the same offender commits.

The fine “cap” for repeat offenders is capped at £3,200, sources suggest.

Manchester has become notoriously bad for residents breaking lockdown rules, with VE Day weekend being dubbed ‘the busiest weekend since lockdown began,’ with over 5000 complaints.
