Covid-19 has been one of the hardest viruses to eliminate for some time and the world is still struggling with it now. Many places around the world are still managing to get over 10,000 cases a day and others are safe from it. The UK understand that Covid-19 will not leave therefore the UK have plans to live with it, however studies suggest that some people are still suffering worse than others.

Long Covid is a term used to describe someone with symptoms of Covid-19 but they are not infectious. It is believed that this would normally happen if a case was severe and was required to go to hospital.

Typically, Covid-19 lasts 5 to 10 days, meaning someone could have it and lose it within the first 5 days, however others will have it longer.

It is believed that 1 in 20 people could have long-term symptoms of Covid-19.

“The second day I just felt like I had an elephant sitting on my chest, I just had this overwhelming fatigue and overwhelming discomfort and tightness and heaviness. I took some time off work expecting that I might need a few days or a week and actually never, ever went back to work.” said Jayne Gemmell who has had long term effects of Covid-19.

This can affect anyone. Therefore the NHS has urged everyone to get vaccinated and make sure you don’t have long term Covid-19.
