Our NHS staff is now overwhelmed with the amount of staff going off work due to the new Omricon virus variant. Nearly 65% of people that test positive for Covid-19 have this virus variant and nearly 8,000 people are in hospital due to this. However, that is not the only thing that is going wrong! This wave of Covid-19 is the worst the UK has ever seen and it is only going to do worse, however, our staff is going to be working till the end!
Almost over 19,000 NHAS were absent due to Covid-19 reasons on the 19th December and up to 54% previous. Health leaders say the NHS is under significant pressure even with the early studies of this new virus suggests someone who has it will more than likely have mild symptoms! The Health Secretary has said;
There is increased pressure in many workforces at the moment, especially if someone needs to isolate if they have a positive case. Some of the recent moves we have had, moving from 10-day to seven isolation if you take a test in the last two days, I think all of that will help.”
Will this overwhelm the NHS more over Christmas? or will there be another lockdown?
