With the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, there has been a lot of news relating to the NHS. There have been some issues regarding this as there have been a lot more people going to the hospital with Covid-19 meaning that the NHS is overwhelmed, however, this has slowed down a lot now due to the decrease in cases recently.

A decrease in cases allows the NHS to start easing its own restrictions in most hospitals across the UK. There is another issue at the NHS however.

NHS bosses in England are urging hospitals to offer staff more overtime and tempt retired staff due to the waiting lists being so large after Covid-19 took over most hospitals in 2020 and 2021.

This means that the NHS is hoping for more staff to help with backdating.

Its been said by the NHS England national clinical director of elective care Stella Vig that the NHS staff has been working hard and have almost, in two months, halved the number of people waiting for treatment within the past two years!

“We know there is still a long way to go, Our staff are our greatest asset in tackling the Covid backlog. It is essential we continue to support our colleagues, harness their collective skill and draw on their ideas to improve things for patients.”
