UK citizens could have to deal with lockdown restrictions for a lot of the year, and could even be tightened in badly affected areas, reports suggest.
Easing restrictions is going to be a slow process.
We’ve been told that restrictions will be lifted gradually; there’s no magical “exit”.
One senior figure said: “We will try a bit at a time, and then pause, so we can see what effect that has on the transmission rate. The pace will be very gradual.”
It has been said that it’s possible that schools will be able to re-open before the academic year, but this will be around early June time.
The governments biggest concern right now is that there will be a “second peak” of the virus, which would do so much more damage in the long run.
Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden, said that sports stadiums are unlikely to be re-opened for mass gatherings until the autumn at the earliest.
