In a single day over 250,000 people have signed up the help the NHS in any way they can.

Officials are blown away at the people of the UKs good will.

Around 11,000 former health workers have already agreed to come back and work, and as mentioned in an earlier article, more than 24,000 final year nursing and medical students will be joining them.

The programme only went ahead yesterday, on Tuesday, as the government set out to recruit people who were 18+ and in good health to help with delivering food and medicines, driving vulnerable people to appointments, and making phone calls to those strictly isolated.

The NHS medical director said he was “bowled over” by the “altruism” displayed by all those wanting to help.

Those who have volunteered have said that they “want to do good”, and even those working from home have signed up, giving up the little time they  may have. This move is unprecedented as no other country has really done this yet.

Everyones hard work is appreciated and it will be interesting, and hopefully a relief to see all these peoples good work pay off.
