After a year of interesting football, after a year of Liverpool and Manchester City dominating the league, we finally have our Player of the Year. The fans were asked to vote for who they think deserved to be the Premier League Player of the Year. The contenders were; Aguero, Sterling and Van Dijk. Many fans would think a Manchester City Player would win this award after the incredible season, however this wasn’t the case. The winner of this award is Van Dijk! Over 48,000 Votes were cast on Sky Sports with Van Dijk. Van Dijk got an overwhelming 59% of the votes. Fans truly believe he was the best player this year! The Manchester United duo Aguero and Sterling only got 15 to 13% of the votes!
Van Dijk has been in top form this whole season, leading Liverpool from the back and proving defenders make a huge difference. He has been Liverpool’s best player this year, overseeing Mohammed Salah as well. He was featured in the FIFA Team of the Year as well. He is Liverpool’s top defender and maybe even one of the best defenders in the world right now. Even better than Ramos. Real Madrid will most likely go for him seen as though he is one of the best Players in the world right now. He could be paired up with Ramos at Centre Back!
