Real vs Fake: Gucci Belt

Real vs Fake: Gucci Belt

Real vs Fake Gucci Belt

The iconic Gucci belt. I’d estimate 1 in 10 people interested in fashion in the UK have one, but sadly, only about 1 in 100 will be authentic.

As mentioned in other articles, buying counterfeit products isn’t a good idea. Doing so, you are funding illegal activities, and often posing a health risk to yourself and those around you! So lets begin. How do you authenticate a Gucci belt?

If its too good to be true…

It probably is. End of story. Don’t risk wasting your money! If the pictures aren’t clear, there’s probably a reason for that. If the seller isn’t reputable, or the price is really low, there’s a reason for that too; because it’s fake. Use your common sense basically! Don’t buy off sites like “www.gucci-sale.com/” or “www.guccioutlet.com/”. Only buy from Gucci.com or other trusted retailers/resellers.

Have you got a receipt?

Ask for a receipt.

“A receipt for an authentic belt should have the Gucci name at the top, the address of a verifiable Gucci store or outlet (including contact information), and the description/price of the belt in question.”

Some fake come with fake packaging and receipts, so make sure the receipt looks authentic, and take into account everything else such as the price and the quality of the belt. Check the packaging too. Everything should look as high quality as the product, and the dust bag will be white or brown, depending on the age. Make sure all the stitching on the bag AND bag logo are on point, too. Look at real examples of the packaging on the internet, so you have a real life example to compare to.

Quality of the belt.

The stitching on the belt should be absolutely perfect, and that’s not an over-exaggeration. They are made to the highest standard, so “dodgy” stitching is unacceptable. “If there are noticeable mistakes in the stitching, you should consider that it is probably a fake Gucci belt.”

If you spot fraying in the material, you’re probably dealing with a fake. Especially if you’re buying a “new” belt.

Verify the serial number. An authentic Gucci serial number should be 21 digits long. The numbers usually begin with “114” or “223.”
If your number begins with “1212,” it is definitely a fake. This is a common serial number given to fake Gucci belts.

Look for the Gucci stamp. The stamp should say the brand name, “Made in Italy,” and include an identifying number, including the correct size. The whole back/inside of the belt should be a suede material, regardless of the model. (Newer reversible belts are excluded obviously).
