The 8th Annual World Choreography Awards (WCA) or “The Choreo” as it is now dubbed, took place on 23rd October 2018 at The Saban Theatre in Beverly Hills. This is now the De-rigueur global awards show celebrating media choreography. The ceremony recognises choreographic achievement in 8 categories:
- Motion Picture
- Music Video
- Commercials
- TV Episodes
- Television Award Shows
- Digital Content
- Independent Digital Content
- Television Reality Show
This effectively gives dance its own international acclaim, which is important as it tends to be overlooked at ceremonies such as the Oscars & The Emmy’s, despite being a fundamental part of many performances. Australian choreographer Ashley Wallen & Tessandra Chavez both had big nights picking up two awards apiece.
