The Great British Bake Off 2019 contestants are revealed

The Great British Bake Off (GBBO) have revealed their 2019 contestants, they include a geography teacher, a fashion designer and a vet! 

The show will be back on our screens on August 27th and will be on Channel 4. All the presenters and judges will remain the same, Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig will present the show whilst Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith will be judging the bakes. 

Meet the contestants

 

ALICE 

Alice is a 28-year-old geography teacher from Essex. She started baking at the age of 15 and now uses cakes in her lessons to demonstrate coastal erosion and volcanic activity.

DAN (Top left)

Dan is a support worker from Yorkshire. He has been a fan of baking from a young age and has carried on baking throughout is life. He even made his own wedding cake.

STEPH (Top right)

Steph is a shop assistant in Chester, sh

e enjoys the challenge of baking and likes to make her bakes healthier by adding veg or fruit. 

PHIL (Bottom left)

Phil is from Essex and is a motorbike enthusiast. The HGV driver was introduced to baking at school when he made bread and now he bakes four and five pieces of bread a week. 

HENRY (Bottom right)

Henry is a Durham University student who loves baking since the age of 12 when GBBO was filmed at the end of his road. Henry says: “I have wanted to get into the tent since series two. I used to see Paul Hollywood when I walked past the tent to go to school, so to be inside was wonderful.”

ROSIE (Top left)

Rosie is a vet surgeon from Somerset and she has baked almost all of her life. She has a passion for baking and is ready to put her skills to the test.

MICHAEL (Top right)

Michael is a theatre manager/fitness instructor in Stratford-upon-Avon. His mother taught him to bake by using handmade recipes passed down from her grandparents. He is inspired by his Indian heritage. 

HELENA (Bottom left)

Helena is a project manager and is inspired to bake by her Spanish grandmother. She was born in North Africa and grew up in Lanzarote before studying in mainland Spain. 

PRIYA (Bottom right)

Priya is a marketing consultant who started to bake in an after school baking club at primary school. She has recently enjoyed having a go with vegan baking.

DAVID (Top left)

David is an international health adviser who as a child helped his mother bake all the time. The family never ate shop-bought bread at home.  

MICHELLE (Top right)

Michelle works as a print shop administrator and bakes almost every other day, she makes fresh bread for breakfast and puddings for supper. 

AMELIA (Bottom left)

Amelia is a sportswear designer who got her baking skills when at university. 

JAMIE (Bottom right)

Jamie is a part time water who was taught the basics of baking by his family. After watching an episode of GBBO he was inspired to make a plaited loaf and is now passionate about baking. 

GBBO returns on August 27, Channel 4, 8pm.
