Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania Teaser trailer

Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania officially kicks off phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and the first trailer is finally here.

Super-Hero partners Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) return to continue their adventures as Ant-Man and the Wasp. With Hope’s parents Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) and Janet Van Dyne (Michelle Pfeiffer), the family finds themselves exploring the Quantum Realm, interacting with strange new creatures and embarking on an adventure that would push them beyond the limits of what they thought was possible.

In the trailer, we see Scott’s daughter Cassandra Lang, shortened to Cassie, explaining that she has created a device that acts as a satellite that sends a signal into the quantum realm to assist Scott in saving people. Janet van Dyne, the original Wasp and mother of Hope, warns of the danger and tells Cassie to Turn it off. But it is too late, and they all, including Hank get transported to the quantum realm.

In the Quantum Realm it appears to be that the group are separated as we see Scott and Cassie surrounded by a group.

We see Hank, Hope and Janet on their travels through the quantum realm as Janet reveals that she hasn’t told the others information known to her about the quantum realm. Then the infamous and with snippets revealing Giant Ant-man and Krylar, an old acquaintance of Janet from the time she spent stuck in the Quantum Realm, played by the comedy legend that is Bill Murray.

The Trailer finishes with Scott and Kang in conversation, with Kang offering Scott a way out of the Quantum Realm

Some great things up for discussion in the trailer that are worth thinking about

  1. the music – the relevance of Elton John’s Goodbye Yellow brick road
  2. When Cassie Makes reference to ‘we’ when talking about the device she has built who is the ‘we’?
  3. Is Janet’s big secret that she trapped Kang in the quantum realm? Is she responsible for the worst Kang Variant?
  4. Finally, with all the Rings and time imagery, are we looking at a ten rings kind of power harnessed by Kang, and are we going to see references to the TVA ready for Loki Season 2 in the Summer?
