Dwayne Johnson (Dwayne Douglas Johnson/Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson) is an American actor, producer, businessman, and retired professional wrestler. He is regarded as one of the most successful wrestlers of all time. Competing in the WWF for eight years before launching his acting career in 2002. His films have grossed over $10.5 billion worldwide, making him one of the world's highest-grossing and highest-paid actors.

Dwayne Johnson - Bio

Dwayne Johnson, born on the 2nd May 1972 was born in Hayward California. He is of Samoan, Irish and Black Nova Scotian descent. In his early life, he briefly lived in New Zealand where he developed an interest in playing Rugby. He moved back to the US after his short stint in New Zealand where he lived in many areas of the country. Through his education, he developed a keen sporting interest and became a gifted athlete in American Football, Wrestling and Track and Field.

He was awarded a full scholarship at the University of Miami due to his talents in American Football, his main career being Defensive Tackle. In 1991 he was on the Miami Hurricanes' national championship team as a backup role. He graduated in 1995 with a Bachelor of General Studies in criminology and physiology.

After graduation he with the aspiration to become a Pro Football player he entered the 1995 NFL Draft but went undrafted. He later signed with Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League as a linebacker but was dropped from the team in the first season after being assigned to the practice roster.

After his football career had come to an abrupt end, he followed in his families footsteps to create a career in Pro Wrestling. Johnson the son of wrestler Rocky Johnson (Ata Johnson) and grandson of Peter Maivia (Fanene Leifi Pita Maivia) was introduced to the WWF by Veteran wrestler Pat Patterson got Johnson several tryout matches in 1996. Later that year he was signed by WWF and made his debut as Rocky Maivia a name combining his fathers and grandfathers stage names and was given the nickname "The Blue Chipper". His character was soon rejected by fans of the WWF character and he soon dropped the name and reinvented his character as "The Rock" in 1997.

After a luscious career in wresting he broke out into acting and gained his first theatrical role in 2001 in The Mummy Returns. Before then he had appeared in the TV shows That 70's Show and Star Trek: Voyager.

In 2012 he went on to create his own production company "Seven Buck Productions" alongside Dany Garcia his Ex-Wife. The company went on to create shows such as

  • Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle
  • Fighting with My Family
  • Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw

In his Personal life, Johnson married Dany Garcia on the 3rd May 1997, and their daughter Simone was born in 2001. In 2007 they announced their split and divorced in May 2008. Johnson soon started dating Lauren Hashian and they married in 2019. They have two daughters together Jasmine and Tiana and they resided in Los Angeles.

In 2020 he announced that his firstborn Simone began her training within the WWE Franchise and on May the 16th 2020 she had officially signed a contract with WWE.
