The Giant Amazonian Ant, is know for being one of the world biggest ants, it is located in the tropical jungles of Central and South America. They can grow to 4cm in length that’s 16x bigger than a regular size of a house ant. The ants are known for being black armed with razor sharp pincers and have a nasty sting, which contain venom, that is used to paralyse it prey, however there more scavengers than actual predator.
They are not like normal ants who have leadership in colonies, they are known for fight and working together. They will however fight and kill other ants from different colonies.
They are not harmful to human however there venom contains an unusual enzyme called lipase, which can break down fats and lipids. Many researchers are looking into the ants venoms because it’s venom can contain many important medical properties which may be used in the future.
