throughout the middle ages doctors were puzzled about many aspect of health, doctors in the middle ages had no clue what caused diseases. Most doctor still believed in a lot of the old Greek method from people suck as Galen. So the four humours were there main conclusion to any deceased they found, they believed that the body was simply unbalanced and needed to be re balanced. In the middle ages dissection of a human body was forbidden so no doctors really knew much about the working of a human body, they could only see what was physically there and only read books about what other famous doctors had wrote.

Due to the time period being very religious, people believed if you had become ill that is was a sign from God about displeasing him. Other blamed the devil and the stars even the moon was put to blame. This was because the lack of education about the human body and what actually caused the illness they had caught. This is where people believed carrying a lucky charm would keep them safe from every illness but that simply wasn’t the case. Many people forced pain upon themselves in order to pleased god in order to get rid of the diseases.

During epidemics people would find other ways of blaming the sickly illnesses by say it was witchcraft or other religions such as Jewish people.
