The Octagon makes its debut in Montevideo, Uruguay this weekend, featuring a championship main event between head of the division, Valentina Shevchenko and Liz Carmouche. The two first met early in their fight careers, and it was Carmouche who came out the victor on that occasion. Many expect the result to be reversed this time around, but some have also questioned her ability to keep going at such a pace with this third defence of her title within a three-month time frame.
The co-main event features an interesting welterweight matchup between the ever-popular Mike Perry and the rapidly improving Vicente Luque. Luque is running a very impressive five-fight winning streak, whereas Perry has earned his two most recent victories by decision.
There has been much change to this card, with what is thought to be a record of 4 fighters having to withdraw within a 24 hour period, some bouts have been scrapped altogether whilst others have had very late notice changes
