After a disappointing upset on June 1st, Anthony Joshua has now got his chance to redeem himself and win back his titles in a rematch that will take place on the 7th December 2019 in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia! This was announced on Friday by Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Boxing. This is a great chance for Anthony Joshua to get back on track to what he wants… Back on the road to undisputed! This fight is known as the “battle of the dunes”. There was a lot of speculation about the rematch being in the UK or in New York, however they decided that the location is going to be in Saudi Arabia.
A lot of fans are unhappy with the choice of the arena since there was no news or anything about them changing the arena to Saudi Arabia, the rumours showed us and even Eddie Hearn said the places are either Cardiff or New York, Cardiff because it’s in the UK and Joshua would of wanted the bout to be in the UK or New York so Joshua could win back what he lost in the same arena as he lost them, however they changed it all up and decided to go to Saudi Arabia instead of the UK or US.
Anthony Joshua has now got the chance to win back his titles, but what will happen if he does and or doesn’t win the titles back?
If he wins the titles back and in easy fashion, he will be wanting to fight the winner and the WBC champion at the time, this champion could be either Deontay Wilder, Tyson Fury or Luis Ortiz. This would mean he could become the undisputed champion as soon as the end of next year, this is all he is wanting to do and if he wins this bout, he could end up becoming the undisputed champion very soon.
If he loses this bout, he will lose a lot of chances to win any titles. Could lose a lot of main events and won’t be able to secure a main event fight for a while until he proves himself again. This is the risk that he will face if he loses this next bout with Andy Ruiz Jr.
