The second ever UFC event in Russia took place this past weekend, with the Octagon landing in St Petersburg, and it was the second event that Aleksei Oneinik had headlined. Oleinik came out fighting from the bell, and looked to have caught Overeem on a number of occasions, but “The Reem” showed his experienced and weathered the storm and landed a number of telling blows and came out victorious with a first round knock out. Although heading towards the twilight of his fighting career, Overeem is still keen to clinch the one award or title that has eluded him so far – the UFC Championship belt. Anotgher fight or two, with victories, this year could see Overeem get his title shot.
The co main event featured Islam Makhachev up against Arman Tsarukyan. Tsarukyan was making his Octagon debut, but it was the more experienced Makhachev who came out victorious by way of a Unanimous Decision
