UFC Fight Night Gustafsson Vs Smith
The UFC returned to Stockholm Sweden this past weekend, with a main event that featured home town hero Alexander Gustafsson against Anthony Smith in a Light Heavyweight bout. This was Smiths fourth consecutive main event fight and he came out victorious by way of a rear naked choke in the fourth round. It was a fairly evenly matched affair to this point, but Smith managed to capitalise on a mistake to get the victory. In his post-fight interview Gustafsson announced his intention to retire from fighting For Smith however, he is moving forward and looking towards that title fight that he feels is rightfully his
The co-main event was scheduled to be Volkan Oezdemir of Switzerland squaring up to the Swede Ilir Latifi, in another light heavyweight battle. However, just days before the event Latifi was forced to withdraw due to a back injury.
A further notable fight was the battle between Aleksandar Rakic and Jimi Manuwa in which Rakic achieved the knock out of the night, and resulted in Manuwa subsequently announcing his retirement
