Pride of Wales Fighter?

Most will say this fighter was better than any other fighter in the world, his fighting style was incredible, the way he managed to go the distance in every fight and defined all odds by beating some of the best in the business. He was the most underrated fighter in the world. Most fans wrote him off straight away once he went up against one fighter by the name of Jeff Lacy, however he won the fight conformable. He will always be remembered as one of the best fighters in the world and one of a few fighters that ended their career without losing a single fight!

The pride of Wales is… Joe Calzaghe! Joe Calzaghe was born on the 23rd March 1972 in Hammersmith, London, United Kingdom, however moved to Newbridge, Wales! He started his professional boxing debut in 1993 with his dad teaching him everything he knew about boxing. His first fight was against Paul Hanlon which he won in 17 seconds via TKO. The reason he was named one of the best boxers ever wasn’t because of his KO rate, it was because of how he fought! Out of 46 fights he did manage to KO 32 fighters however he was known as the best because he knew what to do and would taunt his opponents, even if he went down!

Jeff Lacy fight was the fight to remember, alongside Roy Jones Jr fight! Jeff Lacy was the favourite in that fight, everyone thought Joe Calzaghe was going to lose to him, he had a record of 21 wins and 0 losses, so it seemed over for Calzaghe. Calzaghe lost a point for punching Lacy in the back of the head and still managed to win the fight by nearly 10 points! He was in top form and always at his peak!

Roy Jones Jr however was a different fight and not many fans were expecting it to go the way it did! The last fight of his career, last fight ever, he went up against Jones Jr. First round ended with Roy Jones winning 10-8 after knocking down Calzaghe, however the rest of the rounds Calzaghe won in stunning fashion! After the fright was won, Calzaghe got asked why he went down, and he simply responded with ” I wanted to”.
