Oleksandr Usyk to Fight Joshua v Ruiz Winner!

The unified cruiserweight champion of the world Oleksandr Usyk could be on his way to fight the winner of the Joshua Ruiz fight! It’s clear that Usyk’s intentions are to unify the cruiserweight and the heavyweight division and its very clear he wants to have the fight for the WBO, WBA, IBO and IBF championships already! Even though he has only had 16 fights overall, he could be one of the best fighters to ever go into the sport! He has proven to be a great fighter already and could be a great fighter in the heavyweight division if he gets his chances! The WBO board have announced that Usyk is mandatory challenger for the WBO championship!

Currently, the IBO, IBF, WBO and WBA championship is with the Mexican Powerhouse; Andy Ruiz Jr, who won this belt off the best British heavyweight in the division and seemed to be the favourite in this situation, Anthony Joshua. Ruiz beat Joshua in the 7th round at Madison Square Garden on the 1st June 2019!

Usyk could be on his way to becoming the next unified heavyweight champion of the world, if he can beat the winner of the Joshua v Ruiz rematch that will take place at some point this year, however who will Usyk fight first?

Earlier this year, Usyk was meant to be fighting Carlos Takam in his first ever heavyweight bout, however this had to be skipped due to Usyk gaining an injury in training. Usyk may have his first heavyweight bout against one of the two champions in the heavyweight division. The last fight that Usyk was involved with was against Tony Bellew, he knocked out Tony in the 8th round in November! Bellew has had past experiences with the heavyweight division, beating David Hayes twice, so Usyk should be able to do well when he gets his chance to fight! After having this amazing win, he was named the 2018 fighter of the year!
