Gennady Golovkin vs Sergiy Derevyanchenko!

Gennady Golovkin vs Sergiy Derevyanchenko!

Former unified middleweight champion GGG, Gennady Golovkin, has been given a chance from the IBF board to try and win the current vacant IBF title that was previously with Canelo, but he got stripped of his title. GGG could now become a champion again after losing his titles to Canelo back in 2018. GGG will go up against Sergiy Derevyanchenko for the IBF world middleweight championship, this was agreed and signed off on Tuesday night and the bout could be happening on the 5th October 2019 at Madison Square Garden in New York. This is a huge chance for GGG to re-establish himself back as a powerful boxer and back to the top of the rankings if he wins this bout.

Gennady Golovkin only has one thing in mind however… that’s to fight the man who made him lose his unbeaten streak back in 2018… Saul “Canelo” Alvarez! GGG said that he wanted to fight Canelo when he beat Steve Rolls in the 4th round. Canelo does want to fight Gennady Golovkin as well, however the IBF board have announced and stated that GGG must face Sergiy Derevyanchenko for the IBF title. Canelo will be hoping he gets another chance to win back what he lost. Lost the IBF title due to not finding a fight in the deadline they provided for him.

There is a lot of controversy about Sergiy Derevyanchenko not being a suitable opponent for GGG and not being the one he should fight at all, however Derevyanchenko has had an opportunity to win this IBF title once before. He fought Daniel Jacobs on the 27th October 2018 and unfortunately lost via points decision. He could be the next fighter to beat GGG, but the bout will most likely go the whole 12 rounds and will be decided via points and no KO victory. Who will come out on top in this contest?
